Bacon Ridge Trail resides on 264 acres, including a 91-acre hardwood forest. The trail features a series of stops on its self guided tour that illustrates managing, planting, and nurturing, and clear-cutting a commercial forest. One can also view the effects of surface mining on forested area. Hand-dug iron ore pits, wheelbarrow trails, and former railroad beds populate the area. Fire tower used to sit here.
